After years of hot conversations about highlight and contour and everyone trying to nail the technique, forget the contour. What everyone is talking about now is STROBING.
But, what is strobing?
This technique is defined by using light to define your features. It gives you a fresh and radiant look highlighting the points of your face that catch light naturally, like the forehead, bridge of the nose, cheekbones, cupid’s bow and the chin.
Just like any other makeup technique, this look requires a healthy skin and good prep to look fabulous. Everyone should keep a good skincare regimen and add anti-oxidants to your regimen. This will give your skin that naturally glowing look.
Unlike contouring this technique does not require a lot of products as you will naturally brighten up your face. This new trend gives you a healthier and dewy look when done properly with significantly less heavy makeup than contouring.
You can use any highlighter or illuminator of your choice to do your strobing. My favourite products are MAC Strobe Cream, NARS Illuminator, Stilla All Over Shimmer Powder and Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Candlelight Powder.
Now, is strobing the new contouring? I believe not. They are two different technique and have two distinct effects. If you are after a very natural dewy look go for strobing however if you feel like you need to make you cheekbones more defined and sculpt your face go for Contour.
